Mariko is best known for her monumental glazed ceramic sculptures. Her inspiration is drawn from the animal kingdom found in Africa and Japanese art such as Miyazaki.  

Mariko is a graduate from Beaux-Arts de Montpellier and has been exhibited at galleries such as Franck Picon Gallery in Paris, Art Basel in Miami and Florida, Gauchet Fine Art in Miami, Florida, and the French Riviera and Galerie du Port in Bonifacio. Her largest work is done for art collectors or cities such as Montpellier, Lamalou les Bains or Sarcelles.

The samurai were created in 2016 following my research on japan where the samurai were massacred by the shogun following their evangelization by the monks of portugal. The Scorsese film The Silence was released the following year by coincidence.

 The MIYAKO have the headdress of the Japanese geisha and the scarification of the African woman, two totally different cultures, but always in honour of the Japanese and African woman.
