Informel is a generic term for the styles of abstract Art (in the sense of non-geometric, objectless) in the European post-war years. It characterizes an artistic attitude that, like geometric abstraction, rejects the classical principle of form and composition. What is constitutive is the "principle of absence of form" in the "field of tension between the dissolution and becoming of the form".
